Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

What TXIPTV is, where it runs, how the three connection types differ, and what happens to your data.

Getting started

What TXIPTV is, and what you need before it is useful.

What is TXIPTV?+

A player for IPTV sources you already have. It reads M3U and M3U8 playlists, signs in to Xtream Codes panels, and connects to Stalker and Ministra portals — then gives you channel lists, a program guide, movies and series in one app.

Does TXIPTV come with channels or a subscription?+

No. TXIPTV does not provide, host or sell any media, playlists, channels or EPG data. You bring a playlist link, a portal login or an Xtream username from a provider you already pay. Channel names and artwork in screenshots are demo content.

What do I need to start?+

One of three things from your provider: a playlist URL or file, an Xtream Codes server address with a username and password, or a portal address with the MAC address they registered. Add it once and it is saved.

Is it free?+

The player is free to download and use, with no advertising. An account is optional and only needed if you want your sources synced between devices. Paid plans are planned for that syncing, not for the player itself.

Devices and platforms

Where TXIPTV runs today, and what is being built.

Which platforms are supported right now?+

Windows, macOS and Linux as a desktop app, plus a browser version you can install as a PWA. Android, iOS and smart-TV apps are in development and are not available yet.

Can I use it in a browser without installing anything?+

Yes. Open the hosted web app at /app and sign in. It shares the same codebase as the desktop app. One caveat: browsers enforce cross-origin rules that desktop apps do not, so a minority of streams that play on the desktop will not play in a browser tab.

Why does a channel play on the desktop but not in the browser?+

Because the stream does not send the CORS header browsers require before a page may read it. This is a rule the browser enforces, not a fault in the stream or the player. The desktop app is not subject to it, which is why the same channel works there.

Do I need an account?+

No. The player works fully without one, and your sources stay on your device. An account exists only to sync those sources to your other devices.

Playlists, portals and the guide

The three connection types and what each one gives you.

M3U, Xtream Codes or Stalker — which should I use?+

Use whichever your provider gave you. An M3U link is a flat channel list. Xtream Codes adds movies, series and a guide through an API. Stalker and Ministra portals authenticate with a MAC address and load catalogs on demand. If you were given more than one, Xtream usually gives the richest result.

How many channels can a playlist have?+

Very large playlists are expected. The channel list is virtualized, so groups, favorites and search work across tens of thousands of entries rather than a page at a time.

Where does the program guide come from?+

Either an XMLTV file you point at, or the schedule your portal already exposes. Both feed the same guide: what is on now in the channel list, and a timeline under the player.

My guide shows the wrong programme or nothing at all.+

Usually the guide identifies channels by a different id than your playlist uses, or the times are in another timezone. Both are adjustable in settings — channels can be mapped by hand, and the guide has a display offset.

Privacy and safety

Where your data goes, and where it does not.

Where are my playlists and passwords stored?+

On your device. The desktop app keeps them in a local database, and the browser version keeps them in the browser storage. Without an account nothing is uploaded to us.

Who can see my provider credentials?+

Requests go to the provider you configured. If you create an account and turn on syncing, your saved sources are stored encrypted so they can reach your other devices. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

Is TXIPTV legal to use?+

The player is, in the same way any media player is. What you watch through it is your responsibility: you are accountable for the sources you add and for complying with the law where you live.

Still stuck?

The feature pages go into more depth on playlists, portals and the guide, and each download page covers installation for that platform.
